Established in 2013, håndværk is a small, artisan label that offers a thoughtfully curated collection of high quality everyday essentials made from the finest natural materials and innovative fabrics. We specialize in the classics that form the backbone of a modern and timeless wardrobe.
Our heritage is grounded in three generations of small-scale family production — a legacy of manufacturing textiles, garments, and luxury products. We hand-make or hand-finish every piece in collaboration with other family-owned workshops who specialize in their craft and share our unwavering commitment to exceptional quality. We celebrate the ‘craftsman’, and proudly share in the understanding that making quality garments is a humble, and tedious endeavor, miles away from the hype of the fashion world.
We produce for the few who are thoughtful when investing in a product and appreciates the rigorous process required for high-quality manufacturing. Our craft elevates your everyday staples.
Founded by a husband and wife team, Esteban Saba and Petra Brichnacova – håndværk’s mission is to be the best-in-class modern luxury label specialized in casual. The brand’s ethos is grounded on an unwavering commitment to unmatched quality: timeless design, the finest natural materials, and time-honored quality craftsmanship.
Before håndværk, Esteban spent more than fifteen years in the investment banking divisions of Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan, and Citigroup as a senior strategic advisor to corporations on their major transactions. He earned his MBA at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. His family has a deeply-rooted history in the textile and apparel industry, which extends over a century.
Petra leads the design and art direction process for håndværk. She is inspired by nature’s authentic beauty, and collaborating with manufacturers who share her passion for natural, high-quality fabrics. Petra earned a degree in textile design at the Fashion Institute of Technology; she also studied textile and surface design at Prague’s Mastership School of Art and Design. Prior to co-founding håndværk, she spent a decade managing and curating Waldmann Inc.
