håndværk is about the simple things—choosing quality over quantity, without the need to telegraph it to the world.
Established (New York) in 2013, håndværk is a small, artisan label that offers a thoughtfully curated collection of high quality everyday essentials. Made from the finest natural materials and innovative fabrics, we specialize in supremely luxurious classics that form the backbone of a modern and timeless wardrobe.
Our heritage is grounded in three generations of small-scale family production — a legacy of manufacturing textiles, garments, and luxury products. We hand-make or hand-finish every piece in collaboration with other family-owned workshops and ateliers who specialize in their craft and share our unwavering commitment to exceptional quality. We celebrate the ‘craftsman’, and proudly share in the understanding that making quality garments is a humble, and tedious endeavor, miles away from the hype of the fashion world.
We produce for the one that is truly thoughtful when investing in a product and appreciates the rigorous process required for high-quality manufacturing. We are working to re-define how luxury essentials are made and elevate your everyday.
Esteban Saba co-founded håndværk with his wife Petra Brichnacova. They set out to create a lifestyle brand grounded in quality – clean minimal design, the finest natural materials, and time-honored quality craftsmanship.
Before håndværk, Esteban spent more than fifteen years in the investment banking divisions of Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan, and Citigroup as a senior strategic advisor to corporations on their major transactions. He earned his MBA at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. His family has a deeply-rooted history in the textile and apparel industry, which extends over a century.
Petra leads the design and art direction process for håndværk. She is inspired by nature’s authentic beauty, and collaborating with manufacturers who share her passion for natural, high-quality fabrics. Petra earned a degree in textile design at the Fashion Institute of Technology; she also studied textile and surface design at Prague’s Mastership School of Art and Design. Prior to co-founding håndværk, she spent a decade managing and curating Waldmann Inc.
