The Southampton Store
We are excited to announce the opening of our retail space in Southampton Village, a tangible reflection of håndværk’s ethos. Rooted in craftsmanship, sustainability, and thoughtful design, the store embodies our commitment to natural, high-quality materials. More than just a retail space, it serves as a sanctuary where every detail—from the flooring to the furnishings—echoes our dedication to simplicity, quality, and sustainability.
How would you define the brand’s ethos?
At håndværk, our ethos is deeply rooted in a profound respect for craftsmanship and quality. We believe that true luxury isn’t about trends or excess but stems from the integrity of the materials we use and the timelessness of the design we create. Our approach is simple but thoughtful, intentional in every detail. We’re focused on crafting a modern wardrobe that strikes a balance between functionality and beauty, always maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship. Sustainability is a key pillar for us, not just in the final product but throughout the entire process. We carefully select natural fibers that not only feel beautiful to the touch but also age gracefully, becoming more special with time. Our goal is to offer pieces that serve as wardrobe essentials, yes, but also ones that tell a deeper story of intentionality, care, and the human touch behind each item. We’re committed to fostering a community of individuals who value these principles, where craftsmanship, quality, and a slower, more deliberate way of living can be celebrated and appreciated daily.
What does this new opening mean to you?
The opening of our Southampton store is an important milestone for håndværk and personally for me. It represents more than just expanding our physical presence; it’s about creating a space where our brand ethos comes to life in a tangible way. This store is an opportunity to build a real sense of community with like-minded individuals who appreciate the craftsmanship, quality, and thoughtful approach that defines håndværk. For me (Esteban Saba), it’s a space that reflects the values we’ve held from the beginning—bringing people closer to the materials, the process, and the philosophy behind everything we create. Our clients can truly experience the tactile nature of our collections, feel the textures, learn about the craftsmanship, and immerse themselves in the world we’ve built. It also allows us to engage with our customers on a more personal level, offering not just a product but an experience. This store embodies our vision for håndværk’s future as we continue to grow, but always with the same dedication to quality and the values that have guided us since day one.
Why the Hamptons?
Choosing Southampton as the location for our store felt like a natural extension of our presence in New York City, which is a key customer hub for håndværk. Many of our clients split their time between the city and the Hamptons, so opening here allows us to stay closely connected with them in both environments. The Hamptons, with its unique mix of art, culture, and natural beauty, resonates deeply with our brand’s ethos. Beyond that, our products embody an elevated casual aesthetic that’s perfectly suited for the summer lifestyle of the Hamptons. The relaxed yet refined nature of our pieces fits seamlessly into both the city and this coastal retreat.
Since we manage the brand from Southampton, with our offices and fulfillment center located here, this store is not just an important retail space—it’s part of our day-to-day operations, allowing us to stay fully immersed in the community and close to our customers.
Can you tell us a bit about the design choices you made for the space?
When we set out to design the Southampton store, we wanted to create a space that truly reflects the core values of håndværk—simplicity, craftsmanship, and a deep connection to nature. While we designed the store, we worked closely with Norm Architects, who provided the creative direction. Their minimalist yet warm design language was key to complementing our aesthetic and bringing our vision to life. The goal was to create a calm, inviting atmosphere, where the space feels like a natural extension of the brand—thoughtful, serene, and focused.
We also collaborated with brands like Audo Copenhagen for the furniture and Dinesen for the natural oak flooring, particularly their Layers collection. These partnerships were a perfect match for us because they share our dedication to high-quality materials and craftsmanship. The space is intentionally open, with natural wood tones and soft, neutral colors that allow the products to take center stage while still offering a holistic experience. Every design choice, from the layout to the materials, was made with intention to enhance the overall atmosphere. It’s a space where clients can fully immerse themselves in the håndværk world, with every detail contributing to a sense of calm, care, and quality.
