håndværk specializes in timeless, understated clothes of the highest quality. We focus solely on the essential pieces that form the foundation of your modern wardrobe, elevating casual styles through premium natural materials, impeccable craftsmanship and a keen attention to detail. Guided by ‘less but better’ principles of good design, we strive to make garments that are the best of their kind: simple, functional and inherently sustainable in their long-term appeal and enduring materials.
Our core collection isn’t a sideline – it ’s the essence of who we are. Each design in our collection has a clear purpose and a place. We employ classic silhouettes and a muted color palette to create wearable, versatile and seasonless pieces that work seamlessly well with each other and the rest of your wardrobe. Clothes that make you feel well put-together, yet supremely comfortable. Crafted for a modern way of living and working, our clothes are designed to be worn and enjoyed every day, becoming well-loved, indispensable pieces that you’ll live with year after year.
We never compromise on quality. We apply a rigorous design process to each piece, single-mindedly refining it until we reach the optimal fabric, fit and finish. From the precise weight of a t-shirt to the stitching on a jacket pocket, every detail is considered, tested and re-evaluated until we’ve made a garment that we can feel truly proud to share with you.
håndværk is synonymous with craftsmanship. With a deep-rooted manufacturing heritage, we honor the care, skill and thought that goes into making a product of real quality and integrity. We partner with makers who share our ethos: a commitment to the finest fabrics, immaculate finishing and sustainable, ethical production. Makers who are specialists in their field – using skills that have been passed down through generations.
Our t-shirts, sweatshirts, underwear and knits are all made in Peru, a country with a rich history of textile making and a growing focus on sustainable production. The workshops we partner with all operate at a human scale, allowing us to craft our pieces with care, and finesse every detail.
From Fiber to Finishing
As a nimble, independent brand, we’re able to keep our manufacturing small-scale too. This allows us to maintain quality, uphold traceability and minimize waste. Being small-scale means that we can oversee the quality of our garments at every step of the way. For us, craftsmanship starts with the growing conditions of our raw materials such as our Peruvian Pima cotton, running through to the final inspection of each piece before it gets shipped from our warehouse in New York.
Applying a combination of innovation and time-honored techniques, we’re continually looking for ways to improve both the quality and sustainability of our clothes throughout the entire production journey.
Everything starts with authentic, natural and sustainable materials. We source the highest quality materials to perfect the look, feel and performance of each piece we make. Our pared back design lets the innate beauty and longevity of these materials shine through.
We use two exceptional fibers for the majority of our garments: Peruvian Pima cotton, and alpaca wool. Known for their superior quality and comfort, both are sustainably grown and produced in Peru, close to where our clothes are made. This heavily reduces our carbon footprint and gives us full traceability over the production process.
Do more with less. That’s the idea that guides how we do things, and an intention shared by many of our customers. It’s built into every decision we make – from the limited size of our permanent collections, to the versatility and quality of each piece. But it also explains our approach to sustainability. It’s why we are disciplined in our choices, respectful of the resources we use, diligent about our impact, and mindful of where our pieces end up.
Taking good care of your clothing will extend its life and minimize its impact. Each fabric is unique, so we recommend that you read the garment’s care label. Here is our guide to keeping your håndværk pieces in prime condition – and in your wardrobe for longer.
